Umkumbe Bush Lodge can host up to 24 guests in its well-appointed tented style suites. These suites include 4 standard, 1 luxury, and 5 superior options. Each suite is thoughtfully designed with a private deck or verandah, offering a perfect setting to connect with nature. The spacious suites are fully equipped to ensure a comfortable and memorable safari experience, featuring amenities such as bathtubs, his and hers sinks, and outdoor showers. In addition, the rooms can accommodate up to two children, making it an excellent choice for families.

Our Superior Tented Suites are totally secluded with a King bed, sleeper couch & an option for another single bed for children. They also boast a bathtub, his/hers sinks, and an outdoor shower. The Superior Tents can accommodate up to two adults and three children.
The luxury Leadwood suite is totally secluded and has it’s own private view of the drainage line below. It also boasts a bathtub, his/hers sinks and an outdoor shower. It is also the only room which can accommodate up to two children.

Our Superior Honeymoon Tent has a King bed and sleeps a maximum of 2 people. The suite has an expansive outdoor deck with seating and a plunge pool. Included are his & hers outdoor showers and a large indoor bathtub.
Your guide imparts their extensive knowledge of the wilderness, covering topics from the intricate life cycles of dung beetles to captivating facts about the Big Five. Skilful trackers collaborate with the guide to locate diverse wildlife, from majestic big cats to lively buffalo herds.
Two daily game drives are perfectly timed to capture the bushveld’s vibrant activity. The morning safari begins at sunrise, including a brief coffee break at a scenic spot. In the afternoon, the drive sets off as the day cools, leaving ample time to spot wildlife in the iconic golden hour light.
Savour the sunset during an authentic African sundowner stop with your choice of classic G&T, crisp Savanna, or fine South African wine from the Umkumbe bar. The afternoon drive extends into the early night, aided by a spotlight that reveals the nocturnal wildlife coming to life.
Game drive timings may vary with seasons, and animal activity near the lodge may prompt spontaneous safaris. All game drives utilise open 4×4 Land Cruisers, designed for optimal game-viewing across varied terrain.
The Umkumbe cuisine consists of South African styled, simplistic yet delicious dishes which aim to showcase the best of local and seasonal produce.
Breakfast & Lunch will be served alfresco at the main lodge on private tables and the evening Dinner will be hosted in the boma area around a central roaring fire.
