Lion Sands River Lodge is the very heart and soul of the Lions Sands concession area in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
You will immediately feel at home upon arrival in the lodge: its incredible warm staff will make sure nothing lacks during your stay. The setup of Lion Sands River Lodge is very spacious, and each communal area is a welcoming invitation to wind down in one of Africa’s prime game areas. Sit back and relax in the comfortable lounge and soak up the sounds of the bush. On chilly winter nights a large fireplace provides comfortable warmth. You may also prefer to take a refreshing dip in one of two heated swimming pools.
Lion Sands River Lodge consists of twenty rooms in total: twelve luxury suites and eight superior luxury suites, all with their own private wooden viewing deck looking out over the Sabi River. You may not need to leave the privacy of your room to see wildlife roaming around River Lodge. The Sabi Sands, and especially the surroundings of the Sabi River, is famous for its record number of leopard sightings. Your luxury suite features a king-sized bed and large en suite bathroom (with both indoor and outdoor showers). Of course all suites are air-conditioned. The suite will serve as your tranquil haven during your stay at Lion Sands River Lodge. The communal areas and rooms are connected by raised wooden boardwalks.
Lion Sands River Lodge
12 Luxury Rooms have bathroom en-suite, lounge area with mini bar and wooden deck from which to appreciate the wilds beyond. 6 Superior Luxury Suites are larger in size, and have ample open-plan bathrooms and outdoor showers. 4 of the 6 Suites are inter-leading, and are therefore ideal for families. 2 River Suites are located further from the public areas and are therefore more private. They have incredible river views, best appreciated from the expansive decks. River Suites also have outdoor showers.
2 safaris take place each day – in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate. As Lion Sands is a private game reserve within the Sabi Sand Reserve, and in a private concession within the Kruger National Park, safaris are not confined to main roads. Our Field Guides are able to navigate through dense bush, following the tracks of animals. With a limited number of vehicles on each property, and strict criteria governing sightings, guests are able to spend extended periods of time watching wildlife in its natural habitat. Besides game viewing from a safari vehicle, you may also choose to participate in the once daily game walk (after breakfast).
Lodge facilities include: a Spa a main swimming pool area; a ‘Memory Lab’, where guests will be able to print their photographs on canvas; and a Firepit for sociable nocturnal gatherings beneath the stars. River Lodge’s accommodation comprises 8 Luxury Rooms, 6 Superior Luxury Rooms and 4 River Suites (each with its own plunge pool). One of the River Suites has 2 bedrooms.
