Savanna Private Game Lodge It’s hard to find somewhere that brings you closer to nature than Savanna.
The lodge’s immediate surroundings have an abundance of the most impressive wildlife that can be found in the Sabi Sand Reserve, and guests can be almost guaranteed of complete Big Five sightings on every game drive. All game drives are operated by experienced rangers and trackers who love to interact with guests and share their vast knowledge. Not only will you experience some vivid animal sightings and encounters on game drives, but at the lodge too – no need to even move away from your suite! Right in front of the lodge are a series of waterholes that are very popular for wildlife, especially during the dryer winter season. Elephants in particular, will visit these waterholes on a daily basis. Nearby the lodge as well, are several dams that attract wildlife and birds, and add beauty to the area.
At Savanna, guests choose between luxury and executive suites, or may choose to stay in the exclusive and very spacious Savanna Suite. There are nine suites in total, seven of which feature unique tented roofs and draped inner ceilings that are very romantic. The Luxury Suites, including their outdoor shower and patio, are approximately 96 square meters in size. They feature lovely open decks, and beautiful bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. They are privately positioned from one another so that guests can fully indulge in their time of tranquillity. The 3 Executive Suites are larger, measuring approximately 180 square meters, and include a private deck, outdoor shower and plunge pool. Their extra-large bathrooms feature free-standing baths and double vanities. Air conditioning or fans cool the rooms on warmer days. These Bedouin-style tents are especially romantic and secluded, and offer exceptional views.
Suites
The thatched Savanna Suite is tailor-made for families, with two en-suite bedrooms on either side of a spacious, elegant lounge and large covered patio. The bedroom suites with their individual bathrooms, can also be booked separately, in which case they would not include the lounge, private vehicle and guides which are part of the Savanna Suite package.
Relaxation between game drives is important and what better way to unwind than with an invigorating massage. Savanna’s own qualified therapist offers guests a range of treatments in the privacy of their suites. And, if a little retail therapy is called for, a visit to the curio and gift shop should do the trick.
Savanna offers excursions to nearby places of interest and scenic beauty including the spectacular Panorama route and an African village. Here guests visit the school and a traditional healer or medicine man and learn about Shangaan culture and food. On a visit to an elephant sanctuary guests feed and ride the gentle giants. Golf can be arranged at Skukuza or the magnificent Leopard Creek course. These activities, with the exception of golf at Leopard Creek, take place between game drives so no meals or drives are missed. (Prices are available on request).
