Following the unqualified success of the Tree Camp & Granite Suites – Londolozi completed the newly renovated Pioneer Camp in 2010.
Londolozi Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi’s Luxury camps. The three private suites have superb river views and are perfect for honeymoons and private getaways. Focused on multi-generational family travel, this adaptable camp can also be converted into a private bush home for family groups of 6 – 14 people through linking glass sky walkways into interconnected family units. The spacious entrance-halls at Londolozi Pioneer Camp, are decorated with a Ralph Lauren feel. Clean lines, modern and sophisticated with floor to ceiling glass sliding panels which frame the wilderness views beyond.
The bathrooms at Londolozi Pioneer Camp are classic Victorian with modern accents in the marble, chrome and mahogany finishes. Throughout the camp there is a pervading sense of history thanks to faithfully restored memorabilia of photographs, old suitcases, silver, crystal glass and gramophones. Everything about Londolozi Pioneer Camp is deeply personal and provides a romantic backdrop to the adventures of a new generation of sophisticated travellers and of course, all guests can access the facilities of the other Londolozi lodges, all located within a few minutes’ walk of each other.
Londolozi Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi’s luxury camps. Pioneer Camp offers accommodation in three exclusive suites, all with en suite bathrooms that feature deep tubs and additional outdoor showers. The suites are spacious and secluded, and are decorated in a contemporary African style with colonial touches. On chilly nights you can keep warm by the cosy fireplace, and in the heat of the day you can cool off in the plunge pool on your private deck.
Alternatively, this adaptable camp may also be converted into a “private bush home” for a large single family group of up to six adults and six children.
Londolozi Pioneer Camp offers guests a diverse range of activities to enjoy, perfect for any type of traveller! View Africa’s most impressive wildlife on morning and evening game-drives in open game-viewing vehicles. Every morning after the game drive, guests are offered the opportunity to enjoy a fascinating bush walk. Explore the Sabi Sand Game Reserve on interpretive wilderness walks led by experienced rangers or expert Shangaan trackers, and learn more about the area’s intriguing fauna and flora. Bush picnics are a romantic treat for couples. Other activities include animal tracking, a sleep-out where guests can enjoy a night under the African stars, stories around a roaring campfire and stargazing.
The wellness centre and spa at the camp incorporates yoga and fitness facilities as well as rejuvenating treatments for the complete safari experience. Spend the afternoon at leisure with a soothing massage or a refreshing dip in the pool. Therapies offered at Londolozi Life include Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy and Reiki. All therapies are also offered in-suite or on your deck. Children can join the Cub Club and enjoy activities like bug hunting, while older children can learn to track animals while on the Future Rangers course. Children under the age of 6 are not able to go on game drives but they will be fully entertained at the camps Cubs Club. Activities include bug catching, sing songs, bird watching and African dance. Children between 6 and 16 years can join the Bush schools and participate in Future Ranger Courses. Some of the courses include mammal behaviour, plants and their medicinal uses and bird identification.
