Lion Sands Ivory Lodge has been built on the banks of the Sabie River with magnificent views, extending onto the open sand banks of the Kruger National Park.
‘Stunningly beautiful’ is the best statement to introduce Lion Sands Ivory Lodge in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Tatler Magazine dubbed this awe-inspiring lodge as being ‘one of the best hotels in the world’. Just as its sister property, Lion Sands River Lodge, Ivory Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabi River. Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is probably also the lodge with the most unique design. The lodge is a little different compared to most other safari lodges in the Sabi Sands. Ivory and black colours lead the design frenzy, resulting in just six luxury suites with a feeling of zen.
Of course, your safari cannot be complete without exposure to every facet of life in the bush. With the highly informative and holistic approach at Lion Sands, you will encounter all spheres of the eco-system, from the smallest insects to the mighty African elephant. Professionally qualified senior ecologists, rangers and tracking teams ensure that your personal safari experience not only meets but exceeds your highest expectations.

At Lion Sands Ivory Lodge you will be guided by extremely professional and knowledgeable field guides and trackers during safari activities. They will make sure that your safari experience not only meets but also exceeds your expectations. Game drives are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles and you will be accompanied by a two-man team (of which the tracker will sit on the front of the vehicle). Morning game drives have a distinct character than late afternoon game drives allowing you to see different species of wildlife in an ever changing setting. All safari vehicles are equipped with binoculars and bird books for your convenience. Hot-water bottles and blankets keep away the cold during chilly winter mornings. Chances of seeing the complete Big 5 are exceptionally high in this part of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. The area around Lion Sands is famous for its incredible number of leopard sightings. So if you are up for a luxury safari adventure, and would like to spot the elusive leopard, Lion Sands Ivory Lodge may very well be the place for you.
Besides game viewing from a safari vehicle, you may also choose to participate in the once daily game walk (after breakfast). Other activities include visits to a local Shangaan village where you can learn about local traditional medicine and buy local crafts. Ivory Lodge has its own spa offering a range of treatments at the hands of expert therapists with natural and ethically formulated Africology products. Truly unique is the option to sleep out under the stars in one of the Lion Sands treehouses (optional and at an additional cost).
