Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve
Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve
Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve Award-winning Leopard Hills is located in the western sector of the renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the world famous Kruger National Park.
The Lodge is spectacularly situated atop a rocky outcrop, offering magnificent views over the bush and an active waterhole on the plains below. The Reserve comprises over 10,000 hectares of incredibly diverse ecosystems making Leopard Hills the ideal destination to view plentiful game in its natural habitat. Here the Big Five, (Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard), abound and viewing them at close proximity is our speciality.
Constructed for maximum privacy, the four suites ensure total serenity and solitude. Simply relax on your private veranda or while away the hours absorbed in the peace of the bush. Floor to ceiling glass windows afford wide views of the animals coming down to drink at the rocky river’s edge. The colours and textures of the bush follow you indoors and even the indoor shower is encased in glass. Shared guest areas are intimate too, with steps and levels creating cosy, secluded areas. Tuck yourself away in a private corner with a book or enjoy a refreshing drink in the shade of a jackalberry tree on the spacious deck. With a granite river bank in front of the lodge, you’re bound to spot a four-legged visitor or two quenching their thirst. When the sun gets too hot, enjoy a refreshing dip in the king size plunge pool on your suite’s private deck.
The open-air dining room welcomes you with wholesome aromas and friendly faces. Linger over a leisurely meal under the roughly hewn bush chandelier or join in the hearty fare around a blazing fire in the boma. When the chill of the African night creeps up, retire to the warmth and comfort of the fireplace in your private suite. The deep, free-standing tub in the bathroom beckons and the underfloor heating chases the chill from the smooth rock floor.
This spectacular helicopter flight takes off from Hazyview, near the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Soar over cascading waterfalls and along the escarpment to God’s Window, with its panoramic views, and on to the Blyde River Canyon. Land at a magnificent viewpoint to enjoy a delicious picnic. After your flight, you will be taken back to your game lodge.
The entire Big Five is well represented at Sabi Sand and other rare animals, such as the cheetah and hyena are often sighted. Various antelope species, from impala, waterbuck and duiker to kudu, bushbuck and nyala can also be seen, as can giraffe and warthog. However, it is the leopard that is the real star of the show, with the area well known for some of the best leopard experiences in Africa. This shy and elusive animal, normally the most solitary of the African cats is often viewed both in daylight hours and during game drives.
A number of lion prides have territories at Sabi Sand and are regularly spotted on game drives. In contrast to the leopard, lion are the most sociable of the cat family and prides may consist of up to 12 related females and their cubs, as well as a far smaller number of related males, often brothers. Although not as common as the leopard or lion, the cheetah is also a frequent sight at Sabi Sand.Built for speed instead of power, this formidable predator generally hunts during the day, occasionally resulting in spectacular sightings of the fastest animal in the world in action.

“We have never experienced this high standard of service and hospitality anywhere in the world before. The lodges are extremely private, well equipped, spacious and immaculately clean. The food is prepared fresh by the chef every day, even the bread! The safari game drives are brilliant. Craig was our driver, really informative and good humoured. Patricia manages the place really well. Martha was our Butler. Absolutely fantastic service, always with a smile. I can’t wait to return!” –louwatson
“Spent nights at Leadwood and I must say it did not dissapoint. Mac was our guide and he was absolutly fantastic. His passion for the bush shows when he guides. Prince was our tracker and he was great as well. Martha was our butler and shes fantastic along with Isaac our host. The rooms here are so luxurious and the foods delicious. Great job by Alltes the Chief who discussed our meals with us and gave us exactly what we wanted. The game here is also outstanding. Many leopard, lion, giraffe, elephant and antelope, tons of birds and just overall an excellent experience. ” –Amrithds
“We spent a night at Leadwood and really wish we had been there for longer. It is extremely luxurious and right in the midst of the game reserve. We had a room overlooking the river, in full view of animals wandering up for a drink! Mac is an excellent guide and went out of his way to make our experience truly unique – from taking us to watch a lion vocalise at night to tracking a cheetah and her cubs. And his knowledge of the animals and his environment is so impressive. Colbert was a great tracker too, and he and Mac made a great team. Patricia and Martha were really attentive and made sure that we felt like we were at home from the start. They also provided us with lots of incredible snacks and meals! We were so sad to leave and can’t wait to return to stay for much longer! “-SWedgwood
