Cheetah Plains Lodge
Cheetah Plains Lodge is in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, and is alongside the Mala Mala Reserve and Kruger National Park. Unfenced plains allow the animals to roam through all the reserves at their will. Bring your camera and capture South Africa’s most beautiful creatures in their natural environment. Guests can count on seeing the Big 5, but will also experience so much more. The times of the game drives ensure that guests can admire the spectacular African sunrise and sunset. Specialized birding safaris led by an experienced ornithologist offer a slightly different experience, while the photographic safaris with special equipment ensure guests take home perfect pictures.
Cheetah Plains Lodge is also much more than just the Big 5, here guests learn about the fascinating history of the reserve, and how the Tsongas once survived on the land alongside the animals. The lodge is a special place with a homely feeling and staff who simply love to pamper their guests. Enjoy therapeutic massages at the spa, a cool-off in the magnificent swimming pool and dinners around a roaring fire under the African sky at the boma, whilst listening to the calls of the wild. The lounge, bar and viewing decks with spectacular views of the waterhole ensure guests have the perfect place to commune. The full English buffet breakfast is a great start to the morning, while lunch and afternoon teas bring more wonderful surprises.
The traditionally-thatched chalets & Bush Cottage at Cheetah Plains melt into beautiful indigenous gardens, which in turn are surrounded by pristine African bushveld. Our style reflects ethnic influences while embracing the best of contemporary touches, creating a harmonious flow between pampered relaxation and the raw South African bushveld. Each individual room has either a double bed or two single beds, an en-suite shower, air-conditioning, mosquito net and verandah overlooking the gardens and the wild African bush. The Bush Cottage has two bed rooms, comfortable lounge / kitchenette area, a shower & bath with separate toilet, mosquito nets, air conditioning as well as a verandah overlooking the surrounding bushveld.
Each luxury chalet consists of an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower.

Leopard & Lion emerge in the early evening to drink water or rest before the night’s hunt. As part of our concession rights, only two commercial safari vehicles are allowed in the shared areas of the reserve at any given time.
